But outside of the urban meccas, Sri Lanka’s tangled green jungle, rolling hills, and surf-washed shores draw a different kind of traveler. Who is Nazareno Tubaro?

He’s an Argentinian tattoo master excelling in a unique style called black work, a style as old as tattooing itself, where the filled up black part of the piece is much more present than empty space, a bit like a negative picture.

In this style, Nazareno is making waves with a love for detail, movement and flawless transitions. He started his career in 1996, and has opened his own studio in 2009 in Buenos Aires. You can visit his website at nazareno-tubaro.com.
